Each state has its own rules for admission to the bar and certain procedures for making application. Students considering other bars should plan ahead to determine the particular requirements of those states in which they have an interest and must obtain their application materials directly from the bar examiners. The Law Records Office (lwrecord@gmu.edu) processes all of the law school certification as needed for each state bar but does not distribute application packets. When making application to another state bar, it is the student’s responsibility to provide any required law school certification forms to the Law Records Office in sufficient time to meet filing deadlines. Please note: Each year we have graduates taking the bar exam in over 20 jurisdictions. We make every effort to stay up-to-date in changes in rules, policies, and deadlines. Still, it is your responsibility to be aware of what is happening in your jurisdiction. You are strongly encouraged to review your jurisdiction’s notification page on weekly basis in order to stay abreast of the most current changes.
