West Academic Early Access Casebooks

The Library has partnered with West Academic to provide early access to e-casebooks at the start of the semester. The program enables free temporary online access to casebooks published by West and assigned by GMU law professors. It lasts for three weeks--the week before classes start to two weeks after. The program is meant to help students who haven’t been able to get their print casebook yet or who are interested in exploring whether an e-casebook would work for them. It includes a discounted price for the e-book, should you decide to purchase an electronic copy after temporary free access ends.

The list of available casebooks can be viewed here. Sign in with your West Academic credentials--this is the same username and password you use to sign-in to the West Online Study Aids database.

Instructions for students looking to access their course materials are below. If your professor has assigned a West Academic casebook and you do not see it in the Early Access collection, please contact the library at lawref@gmu.edu. Note that you will not be able to login or access these materials until one week before the start of classes.

PLEASE NOTE: It is not possible to access an e-casebook during a fully locked down Examplify Exam. If you are considering using an e-casebook, you need to consider the type of exam for the course and speak to our Technology Services staff (room 362 in the Law Library) to be sure that an e-casebook will work for you.
